Mr Ata Kasis
Consultant Spinal Surgeon

Mr Kasis completed his higher orthopaedic training in Newcastle upon Tyne and went on to complete a spinal fellowship in the Gold Coast Spine Unit in Australia with Dr Matthew Scott-Young.
​
Being competent in all approaches to the spine (operating from both the front and back) to treat a wide variety of spinal conditions, as well as current concepts of treatment of the spine, Mr Kasis strives to match the patient’s condition with the most appropriate technology available through approaches that are less invasive.
​
Mr Kasis practices privately at Northumbria Health and also the Nuffield Hospital, Newcastle.

Mr Matthew Mawdsley
Consultant Spinal Surgeon
​
Mr Mawdsley is a fellowship trained consultant orthopaedic spinal surgeon whose specialist interest is in degenerative conditions affecting the adult spine, from the neck to the coccyx. He has developed an extensive practice in spinal surgery including discectomy surgery, decompression surgery and fusion surgeries.
​
Mr Mawdsley is actively involved in research and has publications in renowned journals and book chapters. He is heavily involved in medical education, teaching junior doctors and medical students and working as a Royal College of Surgeons of England Surgical Tutor. Mr Mawdsley is the lead editor in spine for the United Kingdom and Ireland In-training Examination, an integral part of training for orthopaedic trainee surgeons.
